Frequently Asked Questions
Please read through our FAQ's to find out more about architectural wrapping
Architectural wrapping is the process of applying a high-quality, self-adhesive vinyl film to existing surfaces such as doors, walls, furniture, or fixtures to completely transform their appearance.
Instead of replacing items, architectural wrap gives them a fresh new look with realistic finishes like wood grain, marble, brushed metal, concrete, or solid colours.
It’s a popular alternative to refurbishment or replacement because it’s more cost-effective, eco friendly and avoids messy strip-outs meaning minimal disruption to your business or home.
Architectural vinyl is durable, easy to maintain, and designed specifically for interior refurbishment projects in offices, hotels, retail spaces, and homes.
Architectural wrapping can be used on a wide range of surfaces from kitchen cabinets and lift doors to walls, reception desks, and IPS panels allowing complete design freedom without the waste or downtime of traditional renovations.
Architectural vinyl can be applied to most smooth, clean, and stable surfaces, making it an incredibly versatile solution for interior refurbishment.
Common examples include wood, metal, glass, MDF, laminate, and painted surfaces. As long as the surface is dry, grease-free, and in good condition, vinyl wrap will bond securely and provide a long-lasting finish.
This flexibility means it can be used in almost any environment from offices, hotels, and retail spaces to homes and commercial washrooms. Even fixtures like doors, walls, furniture, and lift interiors can be transformed with minimal disruption.
Before wrapping, each surface is assessed and prepared properly to ensure maximum adhesion and a flawless finish. If a surface is damaged, flaky, or uneven, it can usually be repaired or primed to make it suitable for wrapping.
Not at all. One of the biggest advantages of architectural vinyl wrapping is how non-disruptive it is compared to traditional refurbishment. Because the vinyl is applied directly to existing surfaces in situ, there’s usually no need to remove, dismantle, or replace furniture or fixtures.
In most cases, the only components we might remove are small fittings such as handles, hinges, or trims, allowing for a neat, seamless finish. This approach keeps downtime to a minimum and avoids the noise, dust, and mess that typically come with full renovation work.
It’s an ideal solution for offices, hotels, retail environments, and other live workplaces, where maintaining normal operations is important. Most wrapping projects can be completed within less time and with less mess than it would take to replace, and spaces are ready to use immediately after installation no drying time and no disruption.
There’s an extensive range of over 500 architectural vinyl finishes to choose from, covering virtually every design style imaginable.
The collection includes realistic wood grains, marbles, natural stones, metals, fabrics, concretes, and solid colours — available in both matte and gloss finishes to suit any interior concept.
For projects that demand extra detail, many of these films also feature textured surfaces that mimic real materials to the touch, creating a more authentic and premium look. Whether you’re after a subtle minimalist feel or a bold statement finish, there’s a wrap to match every design scheme.
With so many options, it’s easy to refresh doors, walls, furniture, and fixtures with a finish that perfectly complements your space — all without the cost and disruption of replacement.
Architectural vinyl is designed to be highly durable and long-lasting, even in demanding environments. When properly installed and maintained, most high-quality wraps will last 10 years or more on interior surfaces without peeling, fading, or discolouration.
The films are scratch-resistant, UV-stable, and moisture-resistant, making them suitable for a wide range of settings including offices, hotels, retail spaces, and residential properties. They’re also fire-rated to meet building safety standards, meaning they can be confidently used in commercial interiors and public environments where compliance is essential.
Vinyl wraps are easy to maintain — a quick wipe with a soft cloth and mild detergent keeps them looking fresh — and because they’re applied directly over existing surfaces, they also serve as a protective layer against scuffs and general wear. The result is a finish that looks exceptional and performs reliably for years to come.
Architectural vinyl is designed to be low-maintenance and easy to clean, making it ideal for busy environments. To keep your wrapped surfaces looking their best, simply wipe them down with a soft or microfibre cloth and a solution of mild soapy water or gentle disinfectant. This removes everyday marks, dust, and fingerprints without affecting the finish.
Avoid using abrasive pads, harsh chemicals, or solvent-based cleaners, as these can dull or damage the surface over time. Regular light cleaning is all that’s needed to maintain the wrap’s appearance and ensure it continues to perform well for years.
Because the film is both moisture- and stain-resistant, it’s perfectly suited to high-traffic or frequently cleaned areas such as offices, hotels, kitchens, and washrooms. With simple care, your vinyl wrap will retain its colour, texture, and realistic finish for the long term.
The timescale for each wrapping project depends on its size, complexity, and the condition of the surfaces being wrapped.
Smaller projects — such as a few doors, panels, or pieces of furniture — can often be completed within a single day, while larger commercial refurbishments may take several days or weeks to complete.
Every job is assessed individually during the initial site survey and measure stage, where we discuss your requirements, access times, and scheduling preferences. This allows us to plan efficiently and keep disruption to a minimum.
Because vinyl wrapping doesn’t require removal, drying, or curing time, the process is much faster than traditional refurbishment, and most spaces can be used again immediately after installation.
Very little. Our team takes care of all surface preparation required before wrapping begins. This includes cleaning, sanding, and priming (where necessary) to ensure each surface is perfectly smooth and ready for the vinyl to bond securely.
The only thing we ask is that the work area is clear and accessible before we arrive. Removing items such as furniture, personal belongings, or temporary fittings allows us to work efficiently and safely.
We’ll handle everything else, including protecting surrounding areas and managing waste materials during and after installation. Our goal is to make the process as hassle-free and efficient as possible, leaving you with a clean, flawless finish that’s ready to use immediately.
In many cases, yes — damaged surfaces can still be wrapped, but it depends on the type and extent of the damage. Because vinyl conforms closely to the surface beneath, any dents, cracks, or texture irregularities will usually remain visible once the film is applied.
Before installation, we always inspect and assess each surface to determine whether repairs are needed. Minor imperfections such as small chips, scratches, or uneven paint can often be sanded, filled, or primed to create a smooth base for wrapping. However, heavily damaged or loose substrates may need more extensive preparation or replacement to ensure a long-lasting finish.
Our goal is to deliver a flawless and durable result, so we’ll always discuss the condition of your surfaces during the survey stage and advise on the best way to achieve the desired appearance.
Not every surface is suitable for architectural vinyl wrapping. For the best and most durable results, the surface needs to be smooth, clean, dry, and stable so the adhesive can form a strong, even bond.
Surfaces that are heavily textured, flaky, damp, or uneven generally aren’t ideal for wrapping. Likewise, items with deep recesses, sharp curves, or complex shapes can sometimes fall outside the material’s flexibility limits, meaning the vinyl may not conform properly or could lift over time.
Examples of surfaces that may not be suitable include:
Bare plaster, brickwork, or unsealed wood
Soft-touch coatings or silicone-based paints
Flaking or powdery paint finishes
Areas with constant moisture or heat exposure, such as shower walls or near cookers
In situations like these, it may be more practical to replace the item or explore spray painting as an alternative solution. Spray painting can work well for awkward shapes or deeply recessed areas that vinyl can’t reach — but where possible, wrapping remains the cleaner, faster, and more sustainable option, especially for flat or slightly curved surfaces.
We’ll always assess your surfaces during the site survey and give honest advice on what will deliver the best and longest-lasting result — whether that’s wrapping, refinishing, or replacement.
Even if a surface isn’t immediately suitable for wrapping, it doesn’t always mean it can’t be made ready. Our team is experienced in preparing and stabilising challenging surfaces such as raw MDF, bare plaster, and painted walls, ensuring they’re properly sealed and ready for vinyl application.
For porous materials like MDF or plaster, we use a specialist stabilising solution such as Zinsser to lock in the surface and prevent moisture absorption. Once sealed, we apply a primer to create the smooth, non-porous finish that vinyl needs to bond securely.
Uneven or textured areas are carefully sanded and levelled to achieve a consistent surface, helping the vinyl sit flat and preventing air pockets or visible imperfections.
However, if we find that a surface simply isn’t suitable for wrapping — for example, if it’s structurally unstable, heavily damaged, or exposed to constant moisture or heat — we’ll always be honest and recommend alternative solutions. In some cases, spray painting or replacement may be the better option for achieving a high-quality, long-lasting result.
Our priority is to deliver a professional finish that lasts, whether that’s through wrapping or by pointing you toward the most appropriate alternative.

Whether you’re updating a single feature wall or carrying out a full interior refurbishment, architectural wrapping offers a durable, design-led solution that transforms interiors quickly and efficiently.
Architectural vinyl wrapping offers a smarter, more sustainable alternative to traditional refurbishment methods like replacement or spray painting. Instead of removing and discarding existing fixtures, wrapping allows you to transform surfaces in place, saving both time and money while reducing environmental impact.
Here are some of the main advantages:
Cost-effective: Wrapping typically costs a fraction of full replacement, as there’s no need to buy new materials or pay for disposal.
Faster turnaround: Because the vinyl is applied directly onto existing surfaces, most projects are completed in a matter of days — with no drying or curing time required.
Minimal disruption: Work is carried out cleanly and quietly, making it ideal for live environments such as offices, hotels, retail stores, and residential properties.
Sustainable choice: By refurbishing rather than replacing, you significantly reduce waste, helping lower your project’s carbon footprint.
Endless design options: With hundreds of colours, textures, and finishes available, you can achieve virtually any look — from wood and marble to fabric or metallic effects — all without structural changes.
Overall, architectural wrapping delivers a high-end finish that looks like a complete refurbishment but with far less cost, disruption, and waste. It’s a practical and environmentally responsible way to breathe new life into tired interiors.
We work exclusively with high-end architectural vinyl brands that are designed specifically for interior refurbishment. These premium materials are built to perform in commercial and residential environments, offering exceptional durability, fire safety, and realistic finishes.
Our preferred product range includes:
Cover Styl’ – a highly versatile architectural film with over 500 textures and finishes, including wood, stone, marble, and metallics.
3M DI-NOC – renowned for its advanced adhesive technology and superior conformability, ideal for detailed applications and curved surfaces.
LX Hausys – a durable, fire-rated film offering beautiful textures and a strong environmental performance profile.

We do not use automotive wrap vinyl for interior projects. Although car wrap film has its place, it’s too thin, lacks the necessary fire rating and doesn't have the same adhesive strength as architectural vinyl.
Similarly, we avoid calendared sign vinyl, which can shrink and fail over time — we only use architectural films to ensure a stable, professional finish that lasts.
By carefully selecting only proven materials, we guarantee a safe, compliant, and long-lasting result for every project we complete.
Yes — architectural vinyl wrapping is a far more environmentally responsible alternative to traditional refurbishment methods such as replacing or repainting.
By reusing existing fixtures instead of discarding them, wrapping plays a key role in reducing waste, lowering carbon emissions, and extending the life of interior materials.
Reduced carbon footprint: Because surfaces are re-covered in place, wrapping eliminates the need for manufacturing, transporting, and installing new components — all of which carry a high carbon cost. This makes it a much lower-impact option compared to full replacement.
Less waste to landfill: Refurbishment projects often generate large volumes of waste when items like doors, panels, and worktops are torn out and replaced. Wrapping allows those same surfaces to be reused, drastically cutting the amount of material that ends up in landfill.
Upcycling existing materials: Architectural vinyl gives old or outdated surfaces a new lease of life through upcycling — transforming them into modern, design-led finishes without starting from scratch. It’s a clean, efficient process that supports a circular economy approach to interior design.
LEED and sustainability credits: Many premium architectural films, such as 3M DI-NOC and LX Hausys, can contribute toward LEED or BREEAM sustainability credits when specified as part of a wider environmentally conscious project. Their low-VOC adhesives and certified fire safety ratings make them suitable for use in green building programmes.
Overall, vinyl wrapping allows designers and property owners to achieve beautiful, high-quality interiors while reducing environmental impact and supporting sustainable building practices.
