Project Overview
We were contacted by a client who had recently moved into a new home and inherited a set of bespoke bedroom furniture, including a fitted wardrobe and matching chest of drawers. Custom-built with tailored internal storage, the units were exceptionally well made and far too good to discard.
However, the existing gloss black finish felt heavy and dated, and didn’t suit the client’s vision for a brighter, more inviting bedroom space.
The Challenge
Replacing bespoke furniture of this quality would have been both expensive and wasteful. The client wanted to retain the craftsmanship and functionality of the units while completely transforming their appearance to better suit the room.
Our Approach
After discussing finish options, we recommended architectural vinyl wrapping as a practical and cost-effective solution. All hardware, including handles, hinges, and bespoke internal features such as the integrated mirror, was carefully removed prior to installation.
The wardrobe doors and drawer fronts were then wrapped inside and out in a gloss white architectural vinyl, ensuring a uniform, high-quality finish across every visible surface. Once complete, all components were reassembled with care, maintaining the original fit and functionality of the furniture.
The Result
The transformation completely refreshed the bedroom, replacing the dark, glossy finish with a clean, bright aesthetic that instantly lifted the space. The bespoke furniture now feels modern and perfectly suited to its new surroundings, all achieved without the cost, disruption, or waste of replacement.
This project is a great example of how architectural wrapping can be used to upcycle high quality furniture, preserving craftsmanship while adapting it to new styles and spaces.
