Internal Door Wrapping - Edinburgh
Project type
Internal Door Wrap
Date
July 2025
Location
Edinburgh
Project Overview
Following the successful transformation of a media wall in Edinburgh, our client asked us to come back and wrap the final element that no longer suited the updated interior - the internal doors. While the rest of the property now featured lighter, cream finishes, the existing doors were a dark red wood that felt visually out of place within the refreshed scheme.
The Challenge
Although structurally sound, the doors’ original finish conflicted with the new décor. Replacing multiple doors would have been costly and disruptive, particularly when the rest of the refurbishment had already been completed. The client wanted a solution that would bring the doors in line with the rest of the interior without unnecessary waste.
Our Approach
As with the media wall wrap, we began by carrying out a peel test to assess surface suitability. This identified that the doors had been treated with a fire-retardant coating, which would have prevented proper adhesion if wrapped directly onto the coated doors.
To resolve this, the doors were carefully keyed and then primed to stabilise the surface and create a suitable base for wrapping. Once fully prepared, the doors were wrapped in a light oak effect architectural vinyl, selected to complement the cream tones used throughout the rest of the property.
Door hardware was removed prior to installation and reinstalled on completion to ensure a clean, professional finish.
The Result
The wrapped doors now blend seamlessly with the surrounding décor, completing the interior transformation and bringing consistency throughout the space. The project was delivered with minimal disruption and without the cost or waste associated with full door replacement.
This follow on installation highlights the versatility of architectural wrapping not just as a one-off solution, but as a flexible way to evolve interiors over time. Most importantly, it resulted in a very happy returning client.
