Feature Wall Wrap at Meridian Court, Glasgow

Project type

Oak Style Wall Wrap Glasgow

Product Used

Cover Styl' NF40 Smooth Oak

Project Overview

We were approached by the principal contractor at Meridian Court after issues arose with a previously installed feature wall wrap. The original installation, carried out by another contractor, had begun to fail shortly after application. Photographs provided showed lifting vinyl, visible gaps between drops, and patch repairs where shortfalls had been disguised rather than resolved.

Following an initial assessment, it was clear that the failure was caused by poor surface preparation, including a lack of sealing and priming of the substrate, combined with substandard installation techniques. Misaligned panels allowed the painted surface beneath to show through, compromising both the appearance and longevity of the feature wall.

The Challenge

Unfortunately, the only viable solution was to remove the failed vinyl, a process that inevitably damaged the underlying surface. This left the wall requiring extensive remedial work, including filling and sanding, adding several days of unplanned labour and materials at a critical stage of the programme.

With the project close to handover, the site team were facing the real possibility of having to abandon the feature wall entirely. The wall was temporarily painted white while alternative options were considered.

Our Approach

We worked closely with the project team to explain the correct methodology required to ensure a successful, long-lasting installation. With programme pressure mounting, we committed to delivering the original design intent without further delays.

The wall was first stabilised using a surface sealer to bind the substrate and prevent future adhesion issues. Once cured, a Cover Styl’ water-based primer was applied to create a smooth, uniform, and vinyl-ready surface.

With the substrate properly prepared, the wall was ready for wrapping.

To achieve a flawless finish across the full 45 foot span, we installed the vinyl using a precision splice joint method. Each overlapping drop was carefully aligned and married to the next, creating seamless transitions with no visible gaps or misalignment. This approach ensured continuity across the wall while maintaining maximum adhesion and a smooth, blister free finish.

The Result

The completed installation not only met the original design intent but significantly exceeded expectations. The Cover Styl’ wood effect vinyl delivered a far more realistic appearance than the product previously used, with the client commenting that it looked like real wood, rather than a synthetic finish.

Most importantly, the project was rescued and completed on time, allowing handover to proceed without further disruption. We were proud to play a key role in saving this installation and delivering a result that reflected the quality and professionalism the space deserved.
